Service Culture
Understanding duty, loyalty, identity, self-reliance and operational mindset.
David G Broadbent is a psychologist with more than three decades of experience supporting people affected by trauma, PTSD, injury, chronic pain, anxiety, stress and major life disruption.
David's work is grounded in a simple belief: people are more than symptoms. Psychological support should help people understand what has happened, regain stability, rebuild confidence and move towards a life that feels meaningful again.
Many of David's clients have carried significant responsibilities, trauma, injury, grief, operational stress or life pressures for a long time before seeking support. His approach is calm, practical and focused on recovery that can be carried into real life.
Therapy is tailored to the individual rather than forcing every person into a single model or method.
David's connection to military service extends beyond professional practice. Raised in a family with strong military traditions and later serving in the Army Reserve, he developed an early appreciation of the values, sacrifices and culture that shape military life.
This background informs his work with serving members, transitioning personnel and veterans. It also supports a deeper understanding of service identity, discipline, duty, self-reliance and the reluctance many people in uniform can feel about seeking help.

Helping people rebuild stability, confidence, relationships, identity and meaningful direction.
Having experienced significant trauma and recovery following a serious accident, David understands that recovery is not simply about reducing symptoms. It is about rebuilding confidence, purpose, relationships and quality of life.
This personal understanding does not replace professional training. It adds a practical appreciation of the courage, patience and persistence often required to rebuild after adversity.
The aim is to support people in moving forward with greater stability, resilience and direction.
David's approach is direct, respectful and collaborative. The first step is to understand what has happened, what is happening now, and what kind of recovery pathway is most likely to help.
